In 2011, the Empire Theatre’s centenary year, plans were released for the Toowoomba Regional Arts and Community Centre (TRACC), a unique performing arts and function venue to complement the existing Empire Theatre and Empire Church Theatre.

The 350 seat TRACC building will meet the identified demand in the Toowoomba region for a medium-sized, flexible facility which will allow for a multitude of uses. With an ability to host events including film festivals, new media, intimate drama and music and dance pieces, TRACC will also enable the hosting of business events and functions.

TRACC will offer a home for the positive development of talented young people within the Toowoomba region, providing a place for them to rehearse, perform and develop their skills and increase their confidence.

Boasting pleasant surrounds including an attractive forecourt as well as relaxing foyer and bar spaces, TRACC will provide an essential facility for the Toowoomba region and enhance the existing Empire Theatre Precinct.

The venue will feature high quality technical equipment and state-of-the-art facilities including retractable rows of tiered seating that can be easily stowed away to provide 400m2 of open space, allowing for rehearsals, workshops, functions and events.

With a completion date of August 2014, TRACC has a preliminary project cost of $5.5 million, of which the federal government has committed $2 million, with a further $2 million to be provided through a local government loan. Our initial target to raise $1.5 million through a public fundraising campaign has been achieved, allowing construction of the building to commence.

An additional $400,000 is required to assist us to equip this facility to the level that will be expected by our patrons and userss. Join with us in creating a lasting legacy for the Toowoomba region, for our youth and for the future of your community.
