Queensland Pops Orchestra - Broadway and Beyond

This delightful and versatile orchestra has been treading the Broadway stage for over a quarter of a century, bringing to life the cream of Broadway musical theatre in a visual and musical spectacular – unsurpassed in its quality and variety. From “Fair Lady to Phantom” to “Lanza to Lloyd-Webber”, the Pops has done them all!

The special guest artist for this series is one of Australia’s brightest shining stars, Teddy Tahu Rhodes. Teddy has rapidly established an international career on both the opera stage and concert platform, having performed with opera companies across the USA, Germany, Austria and the UK. His awards tally is impressive: Southan ARIA, two Helpmann Awards, a Limelight Award, a Green Room Award and an MO Award (Operatic Performer of the Year). Following his huge success with South Pacific for Opera Australia, Teddy returned in 2014 to play the King in The King and I and the title role in Don Giovanni. Teddy enjoys a wide and varied stage repertoire, having won leading roles in recent OA and international productions including A Streetcar Named Desire, Dead Man Walking,Tosca and Faust.

After their stunning debut with the Queensland Pops Orchestra in 2016, the super-talented singing troupe from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University Musical Theatre make a much-anticipated return. Graduates of the QCGU Musical Theatre course can be found performing in musical theatre, drama and media throughout the world. Head of Musical Theatre and vocal coach Associate Professor Paul Sabey has directed and vocally arranged over 60 London West End Showcases, countless theatre productions and produced and conducted eight annual Christmas concerts at St Paul’s in London’s Covent Garden. See and hear the incredible professionalism of Queensland’s next generation of musical theatre stars for yourself – these dedicated young artists are sterling contributors to Australia’s musical theatre pedigree, which is assured for many years to come.
