| Empire Theatres presents AcO2 Australian Chamber Orchestra ACO2 is the precocious little sister of Australia’s most dynamic and critically acclaimed orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra. ACO2 connects talented young Australian musicians with the stars of the ACO, creating a combined ensemble with a fresh, energetic performance style. This is a fascinating program. Bach’s son CPE set out to shock his 18th century audience with music of extreme emotions and special effects. Popular Argentinean composer Golijov pays homage to the tango king Piazzolla. Australia’s extraordinary recorder player Genevieve Lacey plays Vivaldi – everyone’s favourite – as well as a new work commissioned especially for her. And Bartók evokes folk music and the night in one of the greatest works for string orchestra.
