KINKY BOOTS LEADS NEW SEASON- ON SALE NOW!

The Empire Theatres 2019 major production, Kinky Boots will prove that sometimes the best way to fit in, is to stand out.

Headlining the Empire Theatres 2019 Season, which was launched on Friday 23 November, Kinky Boots is an exhilarating new musical with a score by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, knockout

dancing and a spectacularly inspiring story.

Based on a true story, Kinky Boots follows aspiring young businessman Charlie Price, who is forced to give up his London city life in order to save his late father’s bankrupt shoe factory.

He finds unexpected inspiration in the form of Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. As Charlie and Lola work to turn the factory around, they find they have more in common than they imagined.

Kinky Boots Director Alison Vallette said it was important for prospective audience members to know that this is a show about more than just a great pair of shoes!

“Kinky Boots is a show that has a great storyline and great music,” Ms Vallette said.

“For me personally, it’s hard to go past a really strong script. The plot in Kinky Boots is fabulous and I’m very much looking forward to doing it justice on stage.”

Ms Vallette, whose directorial credits include Empire Theatres production Wicked (2017), Mary Poppins (2015), The Wizard of Oz (2012), Hairspray (2013) and Cats (2009) as well as choreographing The Phantom of the Opera (2014), said Kinky Boots was not a musical to be underestimated.

“The title of the show may be off-putting to some people, assuming the term ‘kinky’ indicated some sort of deviant behavior. Kinky Boots is about anything but!” Ms Valette said.

“This story is about acceptance, tolerance, determination and love.”

Designer Chancie Jessop said this was an important show, exploring deeper themes that are important today.

“Kinky Boots is a story beautifully wrapped up in sparkle and glitter to reveal a tender message about trying to live up to other's expectations, in particular the Father/Son relationship and the difficulties that this entails,” she said.

“It explores masculinity in strength through sensitivity, appreciation and respect of women by strong and sensitive males and respect of individuality,”

“It’s a show about being yourself.”

Tickets for this Kinky Boots, which is proudly sponsored by Heritage Bank are on sale now.

“Heritage Bank is delighted to support the Empire Theatre in bringing Kinky Boots to Toowoomba next year. It’s a heartwarming story with great music that will put a smile on everyone’s face,” a Heritage Bank spokesperson said.
