by the 2017 Junior IMPACT Ensemble
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest man - Roald Dahl
Since the beginning of the Empire Youth Arts IMPACT Ensemble in 2011, we have been working with teenaged creatives to make works that speak to the social and cultural influences at play in their lives. But, for the first time, and with the generous support of the Sidney Myer Foundation, we have formed an ensemble for young artists aged 10-13.
A work that is formed by, for and with artists this age is an experiment and in maturity, and seldom done professionally in the history of Australia. And so, to embark on this journey, 7 young creatives have made the work Child(ish) to celebrate all the big things about being small. Growing up, running away, responsibilities, rules, grand adventures and mundane chores, this play embraces it all - no matter how immature it may be.
