There’s something endlessly special and endearing about songs from classic Broadway and West End musicals. A great tune from a Broadway musical has a unique quality that differentiates it from any other pop song. Musical theatre songs transcend traditional barriers and stereotypes – shining stars of the very best that soaring melody and searing lyric can offer.
The incredibly talented students from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University Performing Arts join The Orchestra for the fourth year. Their polished performances win over audiences again and again, and this year will be joined by the fabulous Rob Mills. Rob first came to the nation’s attention in 2003 as a finalist on the first series of Australian Idol. In 2008, he won the coveted lead male role of Fiyero in the hugely successful production of Wicked. He has since starred in a number of musical theatre productions, and currently appears in the television show Neighbours.
Rob will perform songs from Jesus Christ Superstar, The Last Five Years, Grease and Wicked.
