Mozart performed his Piano Concerto No.19 at the coronation festival of Emperor Leopold II, but we think it will make you feel like royalty when you hear its warm beauty.
Australian pianist, Simon Tedeschi - described as “true greatness” by Sydney Morning Herald – joins us at the keyboard.
The heart of this concert is The Firebird; this astonishing orchestral suite of ballet music tells the story of a prince who is aided by an enchanted bird. It is regarded as one of the great masterpieces, not just of ballet, but of all orchestral music. It is fiery in music and sound, and we plan to thrill every listener as the performance is livestreamed directly from QPAC's acoustically superb Concert Hall.
The concert finishes with a suite of music from Stravinsky’s ballet The Firebird. This astonishing orchestral work tells the story of a prince who is aided by an enchanted bird, and is regarded as one of the great masterpieces, not just of ballet music, but of all orchestral music.
The Darlington Strings will perform live from 6.30pm.
The Darlington Strings was started in Toowoomba over 15 years ago by Teresa Brix who had just completed her studies at The Royal Academy of Music in London. The group has played for many functions for dignitaries, state and federal politicians, council events such as The Carnival of Flowers, Summer Tunes, as well as the opening of prominent buildings, such as The Annex. They throughly enjoy being apart of the vibrant local music scene.
